An aspect of the inimitability of the Quran is that it was revealed in variant readings (qiraʾat). In this course, students will study ten of these variants through twenty lines of transmission.

To enroll in this course, students must have mastered the memorization of the Quran following the rules of recitation. Students may choose to study one or all ten variants. If they choose to study ten variants, they will study the texts of the Shatibiyya and the Durrah.

Upon completing the course, students will have mastered the theory and practice of one or ten variant readings of the Quran. Also, those who have recited the entire Quran in these variants from memory to their shaykh will obtain an ijaza with a line of transmission of the ten variants back to the Prophet.
